According to CCTV news, data released by the State Bank of Pakistan showed that on July 28, the Pakistani rupee closed at a record low of 239.94:1 against the US dollar, surpassing the previous day's low of 236.02:1.
Pakistan's currency fell nearly 8 percent against the dollar in the last trading week, fueling fears of a stagnant economy in the country. In response, Pakistani Finance Minister Mivta Ismail assured investors that pressure on the local currency would "disappear" soon.
